With the future of Sergio Agüero already sealed and a publicly announced lack of funds to acquire Erling Haaland, it appears Manchester City could be going for the next best thing.
That man is Dusan Vlahovic, currently at a struggling Fiorentina side where he has still managed to showcase his ability and helped keep them away from the threat of relegation.
Currently 13th, the club are just five points about the danger zone, but with seven goals in his last six games, it’s the Serbian they are relying on in their time of need.
His form this season, which is 16 goals in 31 appearances, as well as his imposing physique, is what has caught the attention of a few Premier League clubs.
Manchester City haven’t been involved in that fight as far as we have seen, as Manchester United or Liverpool have been the most commonly linked, but Corriere dello Sport change that on Thursday.
Once that’s done, the club’s owner, Rocco Commisso, ‘will have to try to win the challenge and keep him with millions, but also with ideas’.
His potential is such that they believe he is ‘a player who could be among the strongest in Europe in the next two years’, meaning careful planning is needed.
Both ‘money and charisma’ will need to be used ‘to repel the assaults of the big European teams from Real Madrid to Manchester City, without forgetting the Germans and all those who, Italians included, want to join the list’.
One to keep an eye on, as he would be the ideal plan B for Pep Guardiola, and most certainly cheaper, as he’s currently valued at a measly ‘€50m cash’.
