It appears that the idea that Manchester City could make a move for a new centre-back in the summer is growing, with new names appearing over the past few weeks.
One pushed by the English media has been Kim Min-jae, currently the star of the show alongside Victor Osimhen at Napoli, and it’s been picked up, and seemingly backed up, in Italy.
Gazzetta dello Sport mention it on Thursday, looking at what the summer could hold for the Serie A side and their current crop of players, which includes the South Korea international.
He’s the talk of the town as he has a release clause in the summer that makes him an enticing and affordable prospect for many Premier League clubs, such as Manchester City.
Others, like Liverpool and Manchester United, have been previously linked, but Pep Guardiola’s side are the latest, and they’re causing some worry.
They describe the situation around Kim as ‘perhaps the most thorny’, as he’s worth pretty much three times what Napoli paid for him in the summer, but they ‘wouldn’t want to let the player escape’ through the release clause.
That’s why the interest from Manchester City is ‘scary’, as the player is doing well in the south of Italy, and there’s hope a ‘new agreement, and an adjustment to his wages’ could see them eliminate the dreaded clause.
All in all, it depends how tempted he is by a move to Guardiola’s side.
