Two months ago, Sport stated Manchester City are in the picture to sign River Plate’s Franco Mastantuono.

Real Madrid have shown interest in the 16-year-old and they have agreed a deal with his camp.

That’s according to a fresh report from Sport, who say Manchester City are now set to ‘blow up’ Real Madrid’s agreement.

Having agreed terms with the youngster, Los Blancos have to find an agreement with River Plate, who are not willing to lower the price below €45m [his release clause].

There’s been a new development as the Premier League winners have decided to take action and carry out an ‘express operation’ to overcome Real Madrid in the transfer race.

Pep Guardiola’s side have been in contact with the Argentine club for several weeks. They have a good ties with River Plate after signing Julián Álvarez and Claudio Echeverri.

Manchester City plan to take advantage of this to reach an agreement with the Argentine club for the attacking midfielder’s transfer. If the English champions were to be successful, they then have to agree terms with Mastantuono.

The ‘battle has intensified’ between Manchester City and Real Madrid to sign the teenager.

Mastantuono made his first team debut earlier this year. He managed two goals and an assist from 18 games so far.
