On Monday, journalist Ciro Venerato reported Manchester City have an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Work was ongoing to agree terms with the French club, with the Italian at odds with manager Luis Enrique despite playing a key role in the Champions League title win last season.
More promising updates have now emerged for Manchester City.
Alfredo Pedulla reports the Citizens have been in ‘close and direct talks’ with PSG in the last 48 hours, in an attempt to seal a deal for Donnarumma.
The journalist claims that this is the first time the two clubs have spoken to each other about the 26-year-old. Both parties have expressed a strong desire to find an agreement.
As things stand, PSG want €45m to €50m to sell the Azzurri star and even though Manchester City are unlikely to meet that price tag, middle ground can be reached for the deal.
There is belief that Ederson’s move to Galatasaray can give Manchester City more funds to sign the ex-AC Milan star, but the Turkish club are yet to meet the asking price for the Brazilian.
