Manchester City are showing an interest in Sporting Club de Portugal winger Geovany Quenda and were left impressed by a recent display from him.
That’s according to Record, who report that Manchester City scouts were left with a positive impression after being sent to watch Sporting recently.
The newspaper explains that scouts from City and RB Leipzig were recently in Portugal to watch Sporting and saw Quenda make his debut in the Super Cup against Porto.
His side lost the game, but his performance was a positive one, with him bagging a goal and generally impressing all who watched.
The scouts in attendance were particularly enamoured with the 17-year-old’s maturity and the player, who has been followed since he was 15, is now very much on their radar.
Quenda has been one of the surprises for Sporting in this pre-season schedule, with Ruben Amorim handing him his chance on the right-wing and the player taking full advantage of it.
He could even find himself in the starting 11 this season, such is the faith in the youngster and the level he’s been showing so far after being promoted from the youth team.
Manchester City are certainly now fans, and it would not be surprising if we hear more of their scouts attending games to keep an eye on him in future.
