Pep Guardiola will travel to Abu Dhabi this week alongside Txiki Begiristain to meet with Preside Khaldoon Al Mubarak to discuss his future at the club.
That’s according to Marca, who say the trio will ‘lay the foundations’ for what comes next at Manchester City.
The newspaper explains that Guardiola’s recent admission that he is closer to leaving than he is staying at this moment in time, with his current contract set to expire next year, ‘caused an earthquake’ which the club are now keen to settle.
Al Mubarak already moved to do so with his comments to the club’s media last week in which he insisted all was well and they would be approaching the topic of Guardiola’s future soon.
Marca now back this up and say Guardiola will travel alongside Begiristain to Abu Dhabi to meet Al Mubarak to discuss the future of Manchester City.
The plan is to first ‘lay the foundations’ for next season, in which they will be again defending a Premier League title.
Guardiola is not the only major player who could be on the way out, though, as Begiristain and Ferran Soriano, who is the CEO at the club, could also leave in 2025.
The trio have been the architects of the modern Manchester City juggernaut and so the plan is to meet in Abu Dhabi and resolve matters, including what happens to the squad next season with big players such as Ederson, Kevin De Bruyne and Bernardo Silva all linked with moves away.
There is work to be done and Guardiola’s future, as well as those above him, will be among the topics up for conversation.
