Anderlecht decided to bet on Manchester City’s Lukas Nmecha last summer even though the striker struggled during his previous loan spells.

Vincent Kompany’s side took the 22-year-old on a season-long loan deal and the Citizens man exploded during his stay in Belgium, scoring 21 goals and registering three assists in 41 matches in all competitions.

The Germany U21 international’s form has convinced the Jupiler Pro League side to retain him beyond this season, but it won’t be an easy task due to Manchester City’s demands and competition from other clubs.

Nmecha has 12 months left on his contract at the Etihad and even though he did well during his loan stay at Anderlecht, he has no place under Pep Guardiola’s City.

That’s according to Bild, who add the Premier League winners don’t want the frontman. He’s now heading for the exit door after the stance taken by the former Barcelona manager.

Nmecha, who spent time on loan at VfL Wolfsburg, has now opened the door to return to the Bundesliga.

“The Bundesliga would be another dream. And it would be cool to play there again,” he told Bild.

The Manchester City player scored the winner for Germany in the UEFA U21 Championship final against Portugal on Sunday.
