Manchester City now seem closer to winning the race for Boca Juniors youngster Valentin Barco.
According to TyC Sports journalist German Garcia Grova, the English club reached an ‘agreement in principle’ with the player.
It’s said Manchester City emissaries have now travelled to England to find a deal with Boca Juniors for the transfer.
Getting to an agreement with Barco is undoubtedly a big step for Manchester City, since there’s been a battle to sign him in the past few weeks.
It’s been widely reported that Brighton & Hove Albion had been battling for his transfer as well, and even had an offer turned down by Boca Juniors.
The latest news about a bid from Manchester City came out on the 18th of August, when it was claimed that Pep Guardiola’s side put US$14m on the table, and that wasn’t enough to take him.
Now the English champions seem to be looking for a different strategy by getting to a deal with him first. It should also get easier to convince Boca Juniors now because they will no longer lose the player in the middle of the South American season.
