Manchester City are eyeing a move for highly rated Ajax youngster Gabriel Misehouy, with the Dutch club yet to get him signed to a new contract.

That’s according to Algemeen Dagblad, relayed by Soccer News, who say City are eyeing the youngster up on a free transfer.

18-year-old Misehouy is currently making a name for himself with Ajax’s U21’s, with a tally of five goals and two assists in eight games in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie earning him admirers.

He appears to be one of the next top talents ready to emerge at the club and that’s led to some concern for Ajax as his current deal expires in June 2024.

That situation means that more foreign clubs are ‘closely monitoring his situation’ and Manchester City are one of them.

They, and the City Football Group in general, have ‘expressed specific interest’ in the striker according to the newspaper.

It means the pressure is on new sporting director Kelvin de Lang to get a deal done as Klaas Jan-Huntelaar has been unable to reach an agreement despite talks in recent months.

The emergence of Manchester City means the situation ‘has not become easier’ and there is certainly a belief that they could tempt Misehouy away from the Netherlands if they so wish.

Alarm bells certainly seem to be ringing at Ajax either way, with City seemingly expressing an interest in the talent and Ajax worried because of it.
