Ajax’s move for Manchester City youngster Carlos Borges could be finalised ‘as early as tomorrow’ as they push to get a deal over the line.
That’s according to Eindhovens Dagblad, who say Ajax ‘has a bite’ and look likely to secure his signature ahead of the competition.
The newspaper reports that the Dutch giants are ‘about to strengthen’ themselves with the signing of Borges, who will arrive from Manchester City on a permanent deal.
He will sign a four- or five-year deal at the Amsterdam Arena and the deal may be finalised ‘as early as tomorrow’. There is no mention of the fee that Ajax will be paying for the Portuguese forward.
It will bring an end to a nine-year stay at the Etihad for Borges, who joined the club from Sporting Youth in 2014 but has never made it to the Manchester City first team in that period.
He has instead been a regular for their youth sides, working his way up the various ranks and making 79 appearances for the U21’s, U18s and the U19 side in Europe.
He will face stern competition for places at Ajax, who have plenty of options on the wings, but has seemingly decided now is the time to move on from Manchester City and chosen Ajax as the place to get his career started.
