There are positive developments in the talks between Barcelona and Manchester City for the transfer of João Cancelo, according to reports from Spain.
Catalan outlet Sport features a story claiming the transfer is now ‘very close’, even though the Camp Nou side still ‘do not take it for granted’.
It’s said talks between Barcelona and Manchester City have now reached a ‘final phase’, and the La Liga giants begin to understand he can be signed soon.
The next 48 hours are expected to be ‘key’, with both clubs engaged in finding a solution.
With the help of Jorge Mendes, Barcelona managed to convince Manchester City to open up for a loan with a buying option, which may become obligatory in case conditions are met.
Since then, there have been formal contacts, and the ‘very good relationship’ has been helping the talks to move forward.
According to Sport, the clubs haven’t set a figure for the permanent transfer yet. Barcelona do have the help of Cancelo himself, he’s very keen on making the move.
Despite rumours of a move to Saudi Arabia, the report says that possibility has ‘cooled off’.
