Kyle Walker’s move from Manchester City to AC Milan is ‘in the home stretch’ and set to be completed soon.

That’s according to Calciomercato, who provide all the details of the full-back’s imminent move to Italy.

They report that Walker is ‘getting closer and closer’ to being Milan’s first signing of the January transfer window. Contacts for the Manchester City defender are ‘increasingly frequent’.

Milan have the basis of an understanding with Walker wrapped up. He will earn around €4m a year plus bonuses on a two-year contract. He’s given his priority to the Italian club and told Manchester City he wants to move abroad.

Two issues stood in the way of the transfer. First was that Walker had asked Manchester City to leave on a free. He wanted his current contract, which runs until 2026, to be ended early. To do so he had to reach an agreement with the City hierarchy.

That is now looking unlikely.  Instead, CM report that Milan will propose an ‘onerous loan’ to Manchester City. That will be worth €1m and include a right to buy for €5m.

Secondly, AC Milan had to solve out an issue with foreign spaces in the squad. All of their slots were full, but they plan to leave one of their current non-EU players out of their squad to accommodate Walker.

Either way, the latest from Italy is that the deal is in the final stages and Walker seems set to be an AC Milan player sooner rather than later.
