Manchester City currently lead the race for Rennes winger Jeremy Doku, according to reports today.
Journalist Sacha Tavolieri writes that Pep Guardiola’s side are currently the ‘most concrete possibility’ for the 21-year-old this summer.
It’s said that Manchester City’s talks for the signing are ‘on and intensified this week’, even though the club are still to place a bid or even open negotiations with Rennes.
So it all seems like the English champions are chatting with the player’s agent to plan the best approach towards the French club.
Manchester City are also said to have the competition from Barcelona for the signing, as the Catalan club have ‘huge interest’ in having Doku to replace Ousmane Dembele.
Still, it’s made clear that the Camp Nou side stand behind the Citizens in the competition, so a move to Etihad Stadium sounds more likely at this stage.
The story doesn’t mention how much Rennes are demanding for the youngster. He’s currently valued by Transfermarkt at €28m, and is tied to the Ligue 1 side with a contract until 2025.
Tavolieri says things are ‘expected to move’ soon.
