At the start of this month, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis revealed he rejected a €50 million proposal for Jorginho from Manchester City. Pep Guardiola is an admirer of the Brazil-born Italian international and wants to add the midfielder to his squad in the summer transfer window.

According to CalcioNapoli24.it, the Premier League winners are ready to improve their offer in order to secure Jorginho’s signature. His move to Manchester City is now “just a matter of hours”, according to the claims… which go on to say the deal could be closed in the next 48 hours.

In addition to this, CalcioNapoli24 say the player could undergo his medical today, although they also say that could be 48 hours too.

After their bid was turned down, City have accelerated their efforts in signing the Napoli midfielder over the weekend. The English champions have improved their bid and are ready to offer €59m plus €4m in bonuses for Jorginho.

The report claims the two clubs have agreed for the fee to be paid, but are yet to reach an agreement over the payment method. City want to pay the transfer fee over a period of three years, while the Serie A outfit want it be completed in two years.

If it is in two instalments, then the €4m bonus would be reduced to €2m, bringing the overall price of the deal down to €61 million.
