Manchester City are not interested in a move for Inter Milan midfielder Christian Eriksen, despite the player’s attempts to arouse their interest.

That’s according to Corriere Dello Sport, who report that the player is set to leave the Serie A side in the January transfer window.

The Danish midfielder joined Antonio Conte’s team in the last winter market, forcing a move away from Tottenham, where his contract was expiring at the end of the season.

His time in Italy has proven to be a disastrous one, though, with him struggling to prove his worth to Conte or fit into his tactical system.

That’s a problem for Inter, who not only paid a big sum to sign him but also offered up big wages to the player in the process.

Having him sitting on the bench with such a huge pay packet is not an option, and they are keen to move him on in January, even if it is on loan, to free up funds.

That is something Eriksen is more than happy to do, particularly as he needs to be playing regularly ahead of the European Championships in the summer.

Corriere Dello Sport say today that on the eve of the transfer window, it is safe to assume a transfer of some sort will happen.

Several clubs are already looking at a move, and a ‘theoretical queue’ is already forming for the chance to sit at the table and negotiate with Inter.

However, Manchester City will not be among them as the newspaper states that ‘it is not enough for Eriksen to wink’ at the club.

They say he would ‘integrate perfectly’ with Pep Guardiola’s style of play and various systems, but the club have shown no interest in a deal, despite the player trying to make it happen.

Why they have no interest isn’t mentioned, although given their midfield is packed with talent as it is, it’s easy to imagine Manchester City thinking it more prudent to give chances to the likes of Phil Foden than bringing in Eriksen.

Either way, they’re not interested, and the Dane may be better served focusing his efforts on a club that might want him instead.
