With Pedro Porro scoring an important goal for Sporting last night, we’re back at seeing the Portuguese press talking about his future with the Lisbon side.
Newspaper A Bola brings a story today saying the Lions are ‘secure’ with the signing, as they have a buying option to keep him from Manchester City.
Porro is loaned by the Premier League side until the summer of 2022, and Sporting have that much time to trigger the €8.5m clause they have over him.
A Bola makes it clear that even if Manchester City receive bigger offers for the fullback, it’s still the Lions who have the priority for his permanent signing.
There’s only one way the Lisbon side can lose the player, and that’s a buy-back clause which is included in the contract, and is mentioned for the first time now.
A Bola doesn’t seem sure about the price on it, but says that Manchester City could sign him back from Sporting after the buying option is triggered by the Lions.
Pep Guardiola’s side could do it either to sell him for more or even to have him back in the squad.
With Porro’s quick success at Sporting, A Bola writes that his performances have not been only drawing attention in Portugal, but abroad as well.
Signed by Manchester City in a €12m move from Girona in 2019, Porro first had a loan spell at Real Valladolid and was then sent to Sporting last summer. He’s now likely to leave the Premier League side without having a single chance to prove himself for Pep Guardiola.
