By having Kevin De Bruyne sidelined for a while, Manchester City may now go after a replacement before the end of the summer window. According to reports from the European media in the past few days, they now target RB Leipzig star Dani Olmo.
That fresh rumour obviously made big noise at the German club, and the local press now gives the player’s response to the story.
Bild managed to have a word with Olmo himself, and despite praising Manchester City, the player didn’t want to comment on the reports.
“Nothing! I’m fully focused on the task in Leipzig, the Bundesliga, the Champions League and the cup,” said Dani Olmo.
“Manchester City are a big club, one of the biggest in the world. Josko went there. But I’m happy here.”
Bild adds that according to their information, Pep Guardiola is a ‘big fan’ of the player. They also write that even though in June the player signed a new contract which runs until 2027, his new €60m release clause is only valid from 2024.
Another factor pointed out by the German outlet is that Josko Gvardiol, who joined Manchester City on a €90m deal from RB Leipzig this summer, is one of Olmo’s ‘best friends’.
With just ten days until the end of the transfer window, we shall see if Pep Guardiola will demand the club work strongly to replace De Bruyne.
