Bournemouth are now assessing River Plate’s latest approach for Julio Soler, with the Argentine club waiting for a formal response to move the negotiation forward.

The update comes from La Pagina Millonaria, which reports that River advanced talks after their initial plan for Román Vega collapsed, turning Soler into the new priority for Marcelo Gallardo.

The local outlet also adds context about River’s urgency. Gallardo wants his squad defined as early as possible, with the club’s pre-season set to start on 20 December. He has already informed several players that they will not continue and expects reinforcements to arrive before training begins.

That timing adds pressure on River’s side of the deal, although Bournemouth remain in control of the process and have not yet indicated whether they will adjust their stance on keeping Soler in Europe.

The Premier League side have already held direct contact with River executive Mariano Barnao, who spoke with Bournemouth sporting director Tiago Pinto to outline the proposal.

As previously reported, River offered a loan with a purchase option, but the new detail is that the negotiation has reached the point where Bournemouth’s official reply will determine whether discussions continue.

Soler’s situation will now hinge on Bournemouth’s evaluation of River’s offer and on how the Premier League club view his development pathway ahead of 2026.
