Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman will have watched the 0-0 draw between Brentford and Brighton ‘with satisfaction’ this week ahead of Euro 2024.

That’s according to Voetbal Primeur, who report that the ‘excellent’ performances from Mark Flekken and Bart Verbruggen will have gone down well.

The Brentford and Brighton goalkeepers have been competing for the best part of this year to be the Netherlands’ number one at Euro 2024, with Koeman yet to fully commit to either option ahead of the tournament.

It means that the two coming up against each other in the Premier League this week will have provided ample opportunity for Koeman to watch both in action at the same time and VP say he’ll have been delighted with what he saw.

Both goalkeepers kept a clean sheet in the game and were key to their sides doing so, although more so Flekken, who had six saves to Verbruggen’s two and kept Brighton, who had 24 shots in total and six on target, at bay.

Verbruggen, on the other hand, had two saves to make and faced just five shots and two on target from Brentford.

Both were ‘excellent’ as far as VP are concerned and they say Koeman will have watched ‘with satisfaction’ at how his two players performed.

Which one he now backs at the Euros remains to be seen, with the two remaining neck and neck and him yet to commit fully.
