AMK today report Galatasaray are set to reignite their interest in Stoke City’s Xherdan Shaqiri.
In 2012 Galatasaray showed a strong interest in the player when he was at Basel, but Shaqiri eventually ended up at Bayern Munich.
The Stoke City winger is expected to leave the club after the Potters relegation from the Premier League, and AMK Spor say Galatasaray are monitoring the situation.
The Turkish media outlet report the Turkish champions will try to loan Shaqiri from Stoke City and they are hoping the lure of Champions League football will help to convince the Swiss international to move to Istanbul.
Galatasaray look set to qualify for the competition with just two games of the Turkish Super Lig remaining.
It’s also reported once Galatasaray announces their next president in the coming weeks the Turkish side will work on a transfer deal with Stoke City as their manager Faith Terim wants him before pre-season training begins.
Shaqiri is under contract with Stoke City until June 2020.
