Real Sociedad manager Imanol Alguacil has asked the club to make a move for Aston Villa midfielder Youri Tielemans.
That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who say the San Sebastien team are ‘thinking about’ the Belgian midfielder for next summer.
They explain that Sociedad have begun to eye up a move for Tielemans as he continues to struggle for game time at Aston Villa this season.
He joined Unai Emery’s side on a free transfer from Leicester in the summer but is yet to establish himself as a regular starter, particularly as Villa’s current set up enjoys continued success.
There’s been regular reports that he could therefore be on the way in January as he looks for regular playing time to ensure he is a part of Belgium’s squad for Euro 2024.
Estadio say Sociedad are looking into a potential deal, although their interest is very much in a summer transfer move rather than one in January.
According to them Tielemans is ‘liked’ by manager Imanol Alguacil, who has reportedly already asked those above him to sign the Aston Villa midfielder for the 2024/25 season.
Any potential deal will be dependent on where the two clubs finish but also the financial aspect, with Tielemans’ asking price believed to be between €15-20m. It’s not specifically stated that’s a difficult price for Sociedad but that is very much the tone.
Either way, sporting director Roberto Olabe is working on the matter as he plans for the summer transfer window and considers a deal that would reportedly make his manager very happy.
