PSV Eindhoven manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has admitted he will be urging the club to do everything to sign Everton loanee Jarrad Branthwaite on a permanent basis in the summer.
The centre-back is currently on loan with the Dutch side, having reunited with director of football Marcel Brands in the summer in search of regular playing time that wasn’t on offer at Everton.
He’s found that somewhat in the Eredivisie, featuring in 14 games so far and 51% of the available minutes in the league.
He’s also been a regular in the cup competitions, with his latest display in the KNVB beker seeing him bag a double in the win over Emmen.
That has led to plenty of talk about his future, with Branthwaite himself admitting he would be interested in a permanent move away from Everton in the summer.
Whether that is to PSV, who don’t have an option to turn his loan deal into a permanent one, remains to be seen but their manager Ruud van Nistelrooy will be pushing for it to happen.
“How he has fought his way into the team … He has shown himself fantastic,” Voetbal Primeur report him saying.
“He is complete, has speed, is big. He is also only 20, so there is a lot of potential in him.
“Whether I’m going to indicate that they should do everything they can to keep Branthwaite? (Yes) to the current technical director, the previous one, the future one, all of them.
“Hopefully he’s one for the future, that’s how we see him internally.”
