Feyenoord manager Arne Slot has been urged to avoid joining Crystal Palace or Leeds United, as he wouldn’t be able to play his brand of football at either club.
That’s according to journalist Valentijn Driessen, who believes Slot should be looking higher up if he is to leave Feyenoord in the summer.
The Dutch coach has been impressing with Feyenoord this year, leading them to the top of the table, ahead of Ajax and PSV Eindhoven, with an attractive brand of football.
It’s led to increased speculation about his future, with Leeds already making an attempt to secure his signature earlier this year when they were looking for Jesse Marsch’s replacement.
Several other Premier League sides who are looking for managers have also been thrown into the mix, including Crystal Palace, who will be on the hunt for a permanent replacement for Patrick Vieira once Roy Hodgson steps down from an interim role in the summer.
Slot would be wise to avoid joining either club, though, according to Driessen, as he cannot see either being a good fit.
“Slot will leave at the end of the year,” Feyenoord Pings report him saying.
“Slot has given his word to all of Feyenoord, because he just signed a contract. It says that he will be Feyenoord’s trainer until 2025 and will only be allowed to leave in 2024 for a limited transfer fee.
“Imagine Tottenham willing to pay 25 million for him, then Feyenoord might be willing to talk.
“He has to go to such a club, not to Leeds United or Crystal Palace. They are also in the market, but he cannot play the football he wants there.”
