Just yesterday, we saw the French media breaking the news that Manchester United are interested in bringing Zinedine Zidane to the club.
It was said it’s an INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe ‘dream’ to replace Erik ten Hag with the former Real Madrid boss.
This obviously became a big topic in the French press, and now we get to see some interesting quotes on this subject brought by RMC Sport.
Speaking of the Manchester United possibility, Eric Di Meco pointed out that even though that may not be the perfect environment for Zidane to accept a job, the club’s size is something that should attract him.
“But right now, I have the impression that the planets are aligning for him to get back to work. But at some point, you’re going to have to make one or two concessions. Concessions mean, for example, going to a country where it’s a bit harder to learn the language, where the weather’s not as nice,” said the pundit.
“For me, if there are all these big clubs and if United want him at all costs… United is still a monstrous club. Yes, struggling, but on the other hand it’s where you take the least risks. If you go to a club that has just won the European Championship, you’re also taking a risk. Life is a risk.”
Zidane continues to have only two experiences as a first team manager in his career, both of them in charge of Real Madrid. He was in charge of the La Liga giants between 2016 and 2018, and then between 2019 and 2021, winning three Champions League trophies there.
Just when it seemed like Erik ten Hag was finding some good form at Manchester United, the defeat to Fulham brought some doubts about his future, and this rumour comes at a very interesting time.
