Werder Bremen manager Alexander Nouri has told the German media he has no concerns about Felix Wiedwald leaving the club, because he feels Jiri Pavlenka will make them stronger in the goalkeeper department.
Wiedwald signed for Leeds United this summer after two seasons with Werder Bremen, in a move which raised some eyebrows in Germany.
Westdeutschen Zeitung have reported on comments Nouri made when quizzed about Pavlenka replacing Wiedwald, with the response being short and to the point: “He’ll make us better in this position.”
Wiedwald recently signed for Leeds United on a three year deal after it became apparent he had no future at Werder Bremen. It was well documented Nouri was bringing in Pavlenka from Slavia Prague to replace Wiedwald, despite the 27 year old being Werder Bremen’s No.1 last season.
It’s been suggested in the German press the Leeds United player was forced out of the club by Nouri, and subsequently pushed towards the Championship side.
Wiedwald is expected to make his competitive debut for Leeds United when they face Bolton Wanderers this weekend.
