For the past week, the Argentine media has been full of stories about Manchester United youngster Alejandro Garnacho.

That’s because despite hosting the U20 World Cup this year, the country may not be able to count on the 18-year-old, as reports have been saying the Red Devils don’t want to let him go.

It turns out that the national team are now trying to reverse this situation, as according to Gaston Edul, manager Javier Mascherano is set to speak to Manchester United about the situation.

The journalist claims the coach has already arrived in Europe, where he’s meeting clubs from Spain, Italy and England.

His quest is for all the players who he’d like to have in the squad and are not guaranteed in the tournament, since FIFA doesn’t force clubs to let them go.

The U20 World Cup is taking place between the 20th of May and the 11th of June.

Manchester United are still in the fight for a place in the Champions League next year, and what could diminish Garnacho’s chances of going to the tournament is that the Red Devils now play the FA Cup final against Manchester City on the 3rd of June.
