The general manager of Sassuolo has spoken about the future of Grégoire Defrel following claims Napoli have contacted his club. The Frenchman has been in impressive form since joining the Serie A side last year, and has also been linked with Liverpool in recent weeks.
TMW have reported on comments John Carnevali made to Italian TV when asked about the interest from Napoli. Carnevali said Defrel is an important player for Sassuolo, and even though offers have come in he isn’t prepared to sell the attacker to anyone. The Sassuolo chief revealed they are building for the future, and the project is going well.
“Defrel is an important player who has so many offers, but we will not sell anyone. The project is strong,” said Carnevali.
Last week we covered reports from Italy that Liverpool recently sent officials to watch Defrel. The Merseyside club have made previous trips to Italy to watch the player this season, and the story helps back up Italians claims of building interest.
Defrel had previously been linked with Liverpool’s local rivals Everton after they held talks to sign the 24-year-old last year.
