It appears that Chelsea are taking the first steps to appoint Graham Potter’s successor, and that man could very well be Luis Enrique.
This is according to AS in Spain, who claim the Spaniard, through Iván de la Peña, his assistant at AS Roma and agent of Eric García, is ‘negotiating’ with the Blues about potentially taking over.
They headline their article by saying Luis Enrique ‘is speaking’ with Chelsea, and the Spanish outlet state that the manager’s name has been on Christopher Vivell’s desk ‘for days’.
It’s pointed out that while Julian Nagelsmann would be the favourite to take over, his issues with Bayern Munich have forced the Stamford Bridge side to ‘consider other options’.
That’s where Luis Enrique comes in, and it appears that everything has accelerated a bit of late, with Chelsea wanting to resolve the situation sooner rather than later.
It’s even stated that the ‘hypothetical arrival’ of the Spanish manager on the Chelsea bench ‘would fill Real Madrid-Chelsea’, set to take place on April 12th, ‘with morbidity’, especially since the 52-year-old used to manage Barcelona.
Something to keep an eye on in the coming days, as this coulp pick up even more pace.
