Sunderland are in talks to sign Swedish coach Kim Hellberg as their new manager, according to claims.
AftonBladet report that the 35-year-old, who is one of the names in the Black Cats’ list, is set to have a meeting with the English club on Thursday.
The outlet explains that following Marti Cifuentes’ departure from Hammarby for Queens Park Rangers, Hellberg was expected to take the job there.
However, this ‘more prestigious’ position at Sunderland showed up, and he’s now meeting them to discuss the possibility.
AftonBladet makes it clear they do not know yet whether the conversation will be digital or in person.
Hellberg is currently in charge of Värnamo, a job he took in January 2022. So far, in 64 matches at the club, he has 25 wins, 13 draws and 26 losses.
Sunderland announced a couple of days ago that they’d agreed the departure of Tony Morbray, who stayed at the club for over a year. They currently have Mike Dodds in charge until they pick their new manager.
Other names linked to the Black Cats job have included Will, Still, Steven Schumacher, Julian Sablé, Paul Heckingbottom and John Eustace.
