While a lot of Tottenham fans will be urging Spurs to go after Julian Nagelsmann after Antonio Conte mutually agreed to part ways on Sunday night, there are other candidates available to Daniel Levy.
One of those, according to Pieter Zwart, analyst and editor in chief over at Voetbal International, relayed by Voetbal Primeur, could be Arne Slot.
The Dutchman was approached by Leeds United after they decided to sack Jesse Marsch in February, but their attempt was blocked by Feyenoord, where the manager is currently contracted.
The belief was that he would end the season with the Eredivisie side, but that could certainly change if Tottenham, far more appealing than the Elland Road side at this moment in time, came knocking.
In fact, there’s one particular reason why Tottenham could go after Slot, and that could be because he shares a particular trait with their chairman.
Zwart said: “Daniel Levy has the image of a miser. He wants to achieve a lot with little money. That is, of course, what Arne Slot has done. First at AZ, where he competed for the title, and now he is doing the same at Feyenoord with a low budget. I can imagine that he would come into the picture.”
As things stand, Tottenham have given the interim job to Cristian Stellini, with their statement suggesting the coach would be in charge until the end of the season.
Whether that will remain the case if the right man comes along, however, remains to be seen, and it will be interesting to see whether Levy does go after Slot or not.
