PSV technical manager Marcel Brands has confirmed to the Dutch media he’s keen to keep hold of Chelsea midfielder Marco van Ginkel.
The Netherlands international is currently on loan with the recently crowned Dutch champions.
Speaking to De Telegraaf, Brands was asked about the future of Van Ginkel with PSV: “Someone like Marco has become a very important player for us. We tried to buy him from Chelsea last year, but that was not feasible. Of course you also have to deal with the salary ceiling. If there is one per cent chance of taking him from Chelsea, I will go for it.”
The 25 year old joined Chelsea in 2013 and has a contract until 2020, but hasn’t featured much for the Premier League club since arriving from Vitesse.
Van Ginkel has suffered with knee problems in recent years, which affected his chances at Stamford Bridge. The player has continued to have issues with his knee this season, but it seems PSV are willing to take a risk on him.
It also seems Van Ginkel isn’t in the plans of Antonio Conte and a permanent move away from Chelsea may be the best solution in the summer.
