His former Sporting manager Jorge Jesus, has been speaking to the Portuguese media (via O Jogo), and was asked about Slimani’s departure.
Jesus insisted Slimani was a ‘great professional’, and never put his own interests ahead of the club.
The Sporting boss explained: “Sporting are a privileged club. Players who were this year on the line of leaving or not leaving were great professionals.
“I speak of João Mário and Slimani. Until the final decision of the transfer was made, Slimani never put his interests ahead of the team. He was never bothered with it. I want to thank them publicly.”
Slimani had an excelletn record for Sporting, and Claudio Ranieri will hope the Algerian can do the same for Leicester.
