Brazilian national team manager Tite has revealed he called Antonio Conte to find out more information about Oscar, and his current form and fitness.

The midfielder hasn’t played for Brazil since 2015. In his last call up, for the games against Paraguay and Uruguay in March, he didn’t come off the bench. He was out of the Copa America Centenario and has been left out of other World Cup Qualifiers matches.

Asked at a press conference about the 25-year-old’s return to the team, Tite said: “I talked to Antonio Conte. Oscar has been playing in a 4-1-4-1 in defensive terms, and has been given more freedom attacking.”

“He answered me yesterday. I don’t have very good Italian, but I can understand it. My Italian is from fifty years ago (laughs).

“But it was enough for us to communicate and I thanked him for the information he gave me about Oscar and Willian.”

Besides the Chelsea duo, Premier League players Fernandinho, Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho were all called up as well.

Oscar will be keen to actually get on the pitch this time for Brazil, and cement his place with the national set-up, especially with a few excellent youngsters coming through.
