Xabi Alonso’s Bundesliga campaign in charge of Bayer Leverkusen makes him an obvious target for many clubs who are changing manager at the end of the season.
With Jurgen Klopp set to leave Liverpool, the former Reds midfielder is a clear option on the table, and Sky Deutschland today has interesting information about that.
They claim that even though Bayern Munich, who are parting ways with Thomas Tuchel, may have Alonso as their top choice, he actually has another preference in his ‘personal ranking’.
It’s said Liverpool are actually in ‘first place’ for him, as he’s looking for an Anfield return following the years he played there.
It’s recalled that Alonso was ‘evasive’ when asked about potentially replacing Klopp, but Sky say the truth is that he’d like the job more than taking charge of Bayern Munich.
Bayer Leverkusen haven’t lost hope of keeping him, though, as they believe the manager is grateful to the club and could show some loyalty to them in the summer.
Now with Liverpool, Bayern and other clubs wishing to sign him, we’ll see how far his gratitude goes.
