Juventus manager Luciano Spalletti is continuing to push the club to sign Sandro Tonali from Newcastle United.

That’s according to Virgilio Sport. They cover the Newcastle star today and Juventus’ effort to try and sign him.

They say that the Italian giants are continuing to pursue the Newcastle midfielder. He is a target for the club’s management and now also Spalletti. But there is a feeling that an investment could be ‘impossible’.

Juventus know that it won’t be easy to convince Newcastle into parting with a player like Tonali, because of his importance on the pitch and the financials involved.

Newcastle paid €61m to sign him from AC Milan and his value has only risen since, with the price tag now around €75m. Such a deal would be hard to get done in January as the costs have been ‘skyrocketing’ and continue to do so.

Spalletti, though, is continuing to push for the Newcastle man to be signed. He sees him as the perfect playmaker for his team. A potential solution is postponing negotiations until June and reassessing, but that might not make Spalletti very happy.

Tonali, for his part, is remaining quiet on the matter. He’s even been busy praising Newcastle fans for their treatment of him, making it clear he’s appreciative of it. The question is whether they are parting words or whether his desire to repay their faith will prevail.
