With both Leeds United and Southampton in need of a new manager following the sackings of Jesse Marsch and Nathan Jones, a bunch of names are being thrown around as possible substitutes.
The Whites have had to deal with a number of rejections to date, while the Saints came close to appointing the aforementioned American before talks broke down.
Now, we see a new name enter the fray with Vitor Pereira, currently at Flamengo, appears to have intrigued at least one of Leeds or Southampton.
We say this because the article, from Mundo Rubro Negro, that relays information from journalist Wanderley Nogueira, claims that the Portuguese manager has received an ‘enquiry from an English club’, with both the Whites and the Saints currently the only ones without a manager.
Therefore, ‘if an official proposal is presented’, there is a chance Pereira could ‘ask to leave’ because of his ‘dream of training in the Premier League’.
As for whether Leeds or Southampton have a clause they need to trigger, it’s said that ‘it is believed there is a termination fee for both parties’, meaning that the manager would need to pay Flamengo some money to free himself from his contract, which runs until December.
Something to keep an eye on, because it appears both the Elland Road and St Mary’s sides are going to continue without a manager for a while yet, and a lot of this is going to turn up.
