AS Roma are in Serie A’s top four and this can help them sign players from Nottingham Forest and West Ham.
Not long ago, the Giallorossi were facing pandemonium. Claudio Ranieri and Gian Piero Gasperini were at odds with each other, leading to the chief advisor’s exit. Soon, there were suggestions that sporting director Ricky Massara can also depart.
Somehow, Gasperini has now helped the club into the top four. They beat Lazio at the weekend and are now two points clear of Juventus and Como.
As a return to the Champions League approaches, plans are being made about summer moves. This can also led to a significant exit from either Nottingham Forest or West Ham.
Gasperini keen on attacking options
Today’s Gazzetta dello Sport reports the Giallorossi are already thinking of how to bolster their squad for next season. Gasperini is playing a key role and his views are being taken into account.
The Italian is ‘particularly interested’ in Crysencio Summerville and Dan Ndoye. The two are seen as signings that will improve Roma’s attack, with another Premier League arrival in Donyell Malen taking the spotlight this season.
Roma know that a deal for either will not be easy. West Ham and Nottingham Forest are likely to demand around €35m to sell their wingers. Qualification for the Champions League will help in affording that.
For every home game, the Italian side will earn around €14m. This will go a long way in helping them afford players that Gasperini wants, with Antonio Nusa and Mason Greenwood also seen as targets.
Deals might not be complex
Ndoye hasn’t caught fire at Nottingham Forest since joining from Bologna last summer. Sport Witness have covered how his entourage is at work to find a new club.
West Ham may be forced to sell Summerville. He has been instrumental in the current campaign but relegation can leave them no choice but to sell the 24-year-old.
That is why Roma may have identified the right targets. Both Ndoye and Summerville will likely be keen to leave, making things easier for Gasperini’s side.
