Having made it clear towards the end of last season that he wanted to leave Tottenham this summer, Hugo Lloris is still at the London club.
The opportunities he was hoping for simply failed to arrive, as the prospect of going to the likes of Saudi Arabia weren’t of interest.
One option that might have been of interest was a reunion with Jose Mourinho at AS Roma, who was offered the chance to work with the Tottenham player again, according to Il Messaggero, relayed by Corriere Giallorosso.
The newspaper claim that the Serie A side were offered two veteran goalkeepers over the course of the summer, with both Lloris and Kasper Schmeichel put on a platter in front of them.
Despite this, José Mourinho’s and Nuno Santos’ trust in their current goalkeeper, Rui Patricio, on top of the FFP restrictions placed on the Italian side meant they were both met with a ‘dry no’.
While the Dane was recently announced as a new Anderlecht player and got his move away from OGC Nice, the same cannot be said about the retired France international, who will now have to make do with being backup to Guglielmo Vicario at Tottenham.
