As Arsenal continue to get named as one of the main contenders for the signing of Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting, we get to see that chase mentioned by three Portuguese newspapers today.
Correio da Manhã, Record and O Jogo all write about the striker’s success and the big attention he’s been drawing from England.
Starting with the first, it’s claimed that Sporting manager Ruben Amorim is ‘losing his sleep’ because of Arsenal’s and Chelsea’s interest in Gyokeres.
It’s claimed that the coach feels like the €100m release clause won’t be enough to hold the player in the January window.
Arsenal may wait a little longer before making the move, though, because O Jogo claims the Gunners are actually ‘evaluating’ the possibility of a bid at the end of the season.
That may be the only chance they have of making the signing for less than €100m, because Record writes that Sporting will not let him go for less than that in January.
Gyokeres had another great exhibition against Porto at the weekend, and now has 17 goals and eight assists in his first 20 matches for Sporting.
