RB Leipzig boss Marco Rose has laughed off continued rumours around his players after Mohamed Simakan and Dani Olmo were respectively linked to Arsenal and Manchester City this week.
The Leipzig boss has been speaking at his pre-match press conference ahead of his side’s Bundesliga opener against Bayer Leverkusen, relayed by MDR.
It’s been a busy summer for him and his side as several big-name stars have already departed and the German side have been forced to rebuild their squad.
They could be set for more rebuild work in the last two weeks of the window, with their remaining players continuing to be linked with big money moves away.
This week alone has seen Simakan linked to Arsenal after Jurrien Timber was ruled out for the majority of the season, while Olmo is reportedly a target for Manchester City as they seek a replacement for the injured Kevin de Bruyne.
Leipzig are not keen on losing either player if they can avoid it, particularly after an already busy summer of transfers out of the club.
And Rose was determined to make it clear that there is no open-door policy either, hitting out at the consistent rumours and their unsettling nature, whether it be the Arsenal or Manchester City ones.
“I think Dani feels super comfortable with his role here at the moment,” he said.
“Nothing is impossible in this business, but I don’t hope that anyone thinks there’s a door open. I could say now: only about my … But I’m not saying that.
“Simakan to Arsenal, Olmo to Manchester City, I think Sesko is already dissatisfied and wants to go to Inter Milan. At some point it’s good too.
“What should the people outside believe and what not? I need a team to be able to play football. If this is to remain ambitious, I also need good players.”
