Porto manager Sérgio Conceição has insisted that interest in Luis Diaz is absolutely normal as he continues to be linked with the likes of Everton.

Díaz was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League throughout the summer, with Everton keen to get a deal done.

They were locked in negotiations with Porto towards the end of the window and tried to do a deal that included James Rodriguez.

An agreement couldn’t be reached because the Portuguese side demanded a high figure for their star man, one that Everton couldn’t afford due to FFP restrictions.

Diaz, then, remained in Portugal but has continued to shine, with seven goals and an assists in 11 games for his club this season.

It means speculation about his future has only ramped up, with Everton continuing to be linked and the likes of Newcastle even brought into the mix after their takeover.

The latter has been roundly dismissed, but the rumours are there nonetheless, not that his manager is particularly bothered.

“I don’t get headaches from the things that gravitate here in the football world, with speculation and news of what might and might not be,” A Bola report him saying.

“It doesn’t get into the locker room. Obviously, playing in the Champions League, with the media coverage of the competition, it’s normal for some players to be coveted, especially from countries that aren’t the strongest.

“It’s absolutely normal and natural.”

The interesting thing here is that both A Bola and O Jogo still have Everton among his suitors at this moment in time.

The former says they have been linked in ‘recent hours’ while O Jogo say he has been ‘linked’ with the Toffees, as well as the likes of Bayern and Chelsea.

They continue to throw the Blues into the mix, despite the fact they can’t really spend any money, and that’s been made clear from those in charge at Goodison Park.

Perhaps they know something we don’t, with the hint very much that Everton remain in the mix after trying in the summer.
