Hammarby IF manager Kim Hellberg is in the running for the vacant job at Swansea City.
The UK press have already reported Swans’ interest in the 37-year-old. Earlier on Thursday, these claims were backed up by Expressen in Sweden.
It was also reported Hellberg is the main candidate to become Alan Sheehan’s successor at Swansea City. The Swedish newspaper also stated the Welsh club have made contact.
A fresh report from Expressen now provides the latest and it sounds positive for Swansea City.
It’s claimed the Swede has already made a trip to the UK to hold talks with the Swans and discuss personal terms.
The report adds Swansea City are doing ‘what they can’ to reach an agreement with the Hammarby IF boss. Expressen are unclear at the moment whether the parties can agree terms.
Hellberg is said to have a release clause of SEK 2.5-3m [€230-270k] in his contract. The Swans will either have to activate that or find an agreement with Hammarby IF to secure the manager’s services.
Expressen report Hellberg travelled to England for a meeting with Swansea City. Journalist Anel Avdić, who covered this report, took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to clarify the meeting is indeed taking place in England and not Wales.
Therefore, it’s not an ignorant geographical mistake from the Swedish newspaper, the meeting is actually happening in England. Such a scenario isn’t unusual, many clubs from north west England often carry out business in London.
