Tottenham Hotspur are thinking about Thiago Motta as one of the options to replace Ange Postecoglou, according to Tuttosport.

Spurs endured a poor run in the Premier League this season, losing more than 50% [16] of the 31 league games. They collected 37 points so far and are now 14th in the table.

Tottenham have made it to the Europa League quarter-final, where they face Eintracht Frankfurt later today. Failure to win this competition will see them miss out on Europe next season.

Postecoglou’s position seems to be in danger and the report indicates Tottenham are very close to parting ways with him. Recent claims from the UK have stated that Andoni Iraola is on their list.

Tuttosport relay that and then state the AFC Bournemouth manager is the priority target for the north London club. Iraola is also on the radar of other clubs, and Tottenham would have to compete with them.

Therefore, Motta’s name ‘immediately jumps to second place’.

The 42-year-old joined Juventus last summer and signed a contract until 2027, but the Serie A side showed him the exit door last month

Since his exit, Tuttosport state Motta has been contacted by several top clubs, but don’t make it clear whether Tottenham are one of them. Atalanta also have on their list.

The report states Juve owe have to pay the €15m left on his contract and this could be saved if Motta were to take up a new job elsewhere.

This feels like ‘cope’, as the kids would say, from Tuttosport. They want to look at ways that €15m could be saved by their local club and Tottenham are a handy solution.
