Belgium manager Roberto Martinez has hailed Brighton and Hove Albion star Leandro Trossard amid his performances this season.
Trossard has been in fine form in the Premier League this season, with six goals and two assists in 11 games for Brighton this season.
He’s made something of a habit of starring in the big games, bagging a hat-trick away to Liverpool in the 3-3 draw at the beginning of October and scoring again this weekend in the 3-1 defeat away to Manchester City.
His tally so far means he is already only two goals and one assist away from matching his total of eight goals and three assists in 34 games in the league last season.
It also means that he is almost a shoe in to be a part of Belgium’s squad for the World Cup in Qatar next month, perhaps even ahead of Eden Hazard, who has continued to be backed by Martinez despite his injury issues.
The decision of who plays will be for the Belgium boss to make, but he’s praised the Brighton star, nonetheless.
“It’s great to see what Leandro achieves,” Sporza report him saying.
“Not many players ever managed a hat-trick at Anfield or scored against City and Tottenham. He has the personality to influence big moments.”
