Manchester United fullback Diogo Dalot spent the 2020/21 season on loan at AC Milan and the Rossoneri have an intention of retaining him at the San Siro next campaign.

That’s according to Calciomercato.it, who add the Serie A side are taking ‘concrete steps’ to sign the 22-year-old.

Dalot managed two goals and three assists from 34 matches in all competitions under Stefano Pioli’s orders last term.

The Portuguese defender is an ‘important element’ for Milan’s squad, and they have ‘every intention’ of signing him again this summer.

It’s claimed there has already been a discussion between the Italian club and the player’s entourage. Pioli, for his part, has already given the green light for his club to make an effort to sign the former FC Porto man on another loan deal.

The Red Devils’ approval to close the operation is still pending, and as per the report, the go ahead to allow Dalot leave Old Trafford is ‘expected’ from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side.

Milan want to take Dalot on another loan deal, but Calciomercato.it doesn’t make it clear whether an option to buy or a mandatory purchase option will be included in the agreement between the two clubs.
