Following the disappointing news for Sunderland fans that Kim Hellberg would be taking over at Hammarby in Sweden, there is a more positive report from Belgium about Will Still.

Currently at Stade de Reims, the young manager was widely seen as one of the sensations last year, as he took his club to an impressive 11th place.

That has continued this year, as they are eighth in Ligue 1 after 15 games, which has caught the attention of Sunderland for their vacant managerial role.

DH in Belgium have a report on the situation, explaining that after Lyon reached out for him, the manager ‘has been contacted’ by the Black Cats.

In fact, they claim the interest is ‘very concrete’, since Sunderland’s president, Kylian Louis-Dreyfus, has ‘already had a meeting’ with Will Still.

It’s said he put forward some ‘attractive arguments’, including their ambition of returning to the Premier League.

This has left Still ‘flattered’, and the 31-year-old is ‘thinking about it with his agents’, since he has never hidden his desire to one day manage in England.

The big question is, as DH put it, whether Sunderland is the right club for him to start doing that.

Meanwhile, over at Reims, they ‘want to keep’ their star manager, even if Still is ‘questioning the real ambitions of his club, especially on the recruiting side’.

Something extra for him to think about.
