While Brentford reportedly consider whether to go through with a deal to sign Antonio Nusa from Club Brugge, the player has missed out on his side’s latest match.

The winger was left out of the squad which is facing KV Kortrijk, and his absence was explained by coach Ronny Deila.

Quoted by Voetbal Primeur, the manager made clear that Nusa doesn’t have any bid physical issues, and just needs some time out.

“It’s really been a lot for him the last few days, so we left him at home today,” said Deila.

“He is fit, so the intention is for him to be back on Sunday.”

Voetbal Primeur points out that Nusa’s transfer to Brentford ‘seemed to be all set’, but with the medical tests finding knee and back problems, that is now ‘somewhat delayed’.

There’s big coverage in Belgium about this transfer possibly collapsing, with the local media today contacting Norway’s national team doctor, who says the issue was a surprise for him.

Having Nusa out of a match tonight is certainly the best decision for all parties involved, especially with his fitness being put into question. Perhaps that’s also needed for Brentford to get the deal wrapped up in time before the January transfer window comes to an end.
