Monday saw Leeds United part ways with Jesse Marsch, with mixed feelings over the manager’s period in charge at Elland Road.
He played a role in helping them avoid relegation last season, and whilst a couple of key players were lost in the summer, Marsch was certainly backed by the club’s board over the past two windows.
He wasn’t able to really show what he could with the January signings, as results dictated a change was needed. Multiple names have already been linked with the managerial vacancy, and Monday evening saw Andoni Iraola named as someone Leeds United are considering.
Iraola is currently in charge of Rayo Vallecano, who are a very impressive fifth in La Liga.
Rayo played Almeria on Monday evening, getting themselves a 2-0 victory. Given the Leeds United rumours were building, Iraola was asked about it all after the match, report Mundo Deportivo.
Mundo say the manager ‘didn’t want to give importance’ to the rumours coming from England, he instead went all philosophical and said: “Football belongs to the footballers, the coaches are not so important. The players make us look better and I am lucky that I have players with a level. We are on a good line but I am aware of what my role is.”
