Eintracht Frankfurt coach Dino Toppmöller has shared his delight at getting a deal for Leeds United defender Rasmus Kristensen over the line.

Kicker cover comments from the Frankfurt boss today after the defender moved from Leeds on a season long loan deal.

Reports yesterday had Kristensen closing in on the move to the German side, his second straight loan move away from Leeds after spending last season with Roma.

The deal has now been confirmed, with it explained earlier today that the defender was joining the Bundesliga club on what is essentially a free loan with an option to buy next summer.

The defender becomes the latest in a growing list of players to leave Leeds this summer, with many players, some returning from loan deals like the Dane has, electing to leave rather than try and help the club get back into the Premier League.

It’s been a disappointing summer for Daniel Farke and his side in that respect, with the promotion failure last season costing them dearly.

But while there’s irritation as another player departs, it seems Eintracht Frankfurt, and Toppmöller in particular, are more than happy.

“Rasmus is a player who marches forward with a positive charisma and inspires others,” he said.

“With his mentality, leadership strength and experience, he will help us and give us the punch that we need as a group.

“We already have a lot of great footballers in the squad, now Rasmus brings in a different element because he works the football a bit more. The fans in the stadium also like to see that. We’re hoping for a lot from him, but he too has to face competition.”
