Beto was on target for Everton at the weekend, as he helped David Moyes’ side to a 4-0 win over Leicester City.

The Portuguese got a brace in the game and this came days after he was the centre of talk in the transfer window. Torino were keen on the striker but they couldn’t meet the Toffees’ asking price for the player.

TuttoSport, as relayed by Tuttomercatoweb, have looked at Torino’s business in the transfer window.

They signed Reims striker Amine Salama but the newspaper are quite unhappy with how the window went, as they believe that Salama is a rather underwhelming name after the links with Beto.

The Italian club’s manager Paolo Vanoli is quite ‘dejected’ that they couldn’t land the Portuguese striker from Everton and also missed out on other targets.

They feel that Torino fans had to Google Salama’s name to find out who he was and would have ideally wanted to sign Beto or a much more prominent name like Napoli’s Giovanni Simeone.

The Toffees’ asking price of around €20m for the 26-year-old was higher than Torino wanted to go and therefore they didn’t get their man.
